Soul…stirring…
“Lamento for gaita and cello” by Cristina Pato and Mike Block
…wistful and depressed sigh…
I still remember the first time I had a Turkish Delight in London. I was *so* excited! And then…it…was…alright…I mean, I enjoyed it…but…give-up-the-world-for-a-few-of-these…?
And yeah, if Cinnabon was involved…goodbye world!
In the past few years, I’ve become more and more interested in learning about phrase origins. There are so many phrases that we use without batting a eye that are just weird if you just stop to think about it…phrases like “Bob’s your uncle”…say what? Who’s Bob and why’s he my uncle? And why does that mean “everything’s good” or “there you have it”?
Apparently, nobody really knows. Which makes it even more mysterious. But it seems like the most popular explanation seems to involve nepotism, and a Irish politician getting his position because of his uncle Robert…or “Bob”, if you will. So there you have it…or Bob’s your uncle.
