be a music pirate, buy a mac!

Blogged by edjusted as cool stuff — edjusted Fri 10 Jun 2005 7:51 pm

suncomm is a company responsible for the copy-protection scheme on some new sony cds. sometimes, it’s good to be the ignored mac-using minority…because their copy-protection scheme can be defeated simply by…putting the cd in a mac.

“Buy a Mac.

That?s right, despite SunnComm?s claims that its copy protection scheme makes its wares incompatible with iTunes?and therefore the iPod?when I inserted my Dave Matthews disc into three different Macs, the disc appeared, played, ripped and burned in iTunes (and transferred to my iPod) with nary a glitch, and without the need for an authorizing utility.

And this is the kind of technology that the music industry hopes will stem the tide of piracy!?

God help them.”

so citibank and ups just “lost” a package with information on 3.9 million customers…aside from all the identity theft concerns and such, i thought about how amazing/scary it is that the package could’ve been the size of a stick of gum, or even smaller…not that long ago, that much info would’ve had to fit in many good sized boxes, and not that much longer than that, you probably would’ve needed several trucks to transport that much data. but now…hell, i could swallow that…gulp…there goes 3.9 million customers…

google takes over the world…

…in this interesting flash mini-movie… very nicely done. interesting, and at the same time kind of scary, because it can potentially come true.
