From the 1/13/06 issue of The Week: Automakers have designed their 2006 line of cars with wider seats to accomodate Americans’ burgeoning buttocks…seats in the 2006 Honda Civic are wider by three-quarters of an inch. The purpose of the change, said a Honda spokesman, is “to meet the growing needs of our customers.”

“Growing needs” indeed…why can’t people just stop eating?!
